Apologies for not blogging sooner ! Work has been frantic and with the children off school for 6 weeks, I can honestly say the time has flown. I've managed a few days away from work with the chidren so I thought I would share them with you. The Lampeter Food Festival took place on the last Saturday in July so we travelled up there to sample the different foods. It was also an opportunity to see our friends at The Organic Fresh Food Company : we get a bag of produce from them every week and its always nice to see them face to face. This time it was an opportunity to see, taste and buy some of the bread that they have started making. Over the past year they have been working on their bakery, producing slow fermentation bread and currently have various breads available Thurs, Fri and Sat. However, the aim is to bake every day and have their delicious bread available throughout the week. Also at the festival were the Yummy Mummies, and wow what a stall they had ! Amy and Emily ( and their little helpers ) had the most wonderful selection of cakes and pastries, and yes I did sample some ! The lovely ladies produce cakes and fine deserts for any occassion, so worth remembering. Amongst the foody stalls, there were a few craft stalls and I had the pleasure of meeting Ann Burns on one of these. Ann runs Stuffing and Springs, reupholstering furniture and she also makes little gifts with fabric remnants. I was impressed with Ann's portfolio and this weekend I shall be meeting up with her in her workshop when I take her a chair which needs a new seat. I found the chair whilst on a visit to my local tip would you believe ! It had a broken arm rest and a split down one of the back struts which I have repaired, the seat had disintegrated but it was something I was reluctant to tackle myself so was delighted to meet Ann ! So hopefully in a future blog in the not too distant future, I shall put on a photo of the finished chair and you can bet my cat Izzy will be the first to enjoy sitting on it !
We managed a few days in Pembrokshire in August when the sun was shining which was a lovely break. I discovered the area around Stackpole and enjoyed a walk which took us on a circular route from Broadhaven South taking in the lily ponds and Barafundle Bay, all in the care of The National Trust. Simply stunning !
Alas that all seems a long time ago ! Back to the normal routine now, so I'll say goodbye for now !
